Camp Van Es’ Summer Camps are exciting days for young people.Children and teenagers spend time in the great outdoors, living in community, leaning to find joy in the natural world, and discovering their spirituality – all in the context of living in cabins with peers, swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, campfires, and adventure games. So much of kids’ lives are overprogrammed and online. Summer Camp is the one time of the year where kids have no outside schedules, no obgligations to meet, and are disconnected from their screens. Instead, they play outside, make new friends, and leave responsibilities behind. Unstructured play is an important part of childhood development, where kids and teens learn creativity and problem solving. For over 70 years, the Moravian Church in Canada has been operating Camp Van Es as a special place to find meaningful connection. The Moravian Church is a protestant Christian church, who works hard to be open and inclusive of all people, including LGBT2+ people and their families. We believe that all people are on a spiritual journey, and value diversity of background and perspective. We are a people of faith, hope, and love. Children and teenagers of all ethnic or religious backgrounds, genders and sexual orientations, and abilities are welcome at Camp Van Es.
